- Bearing/Bypass : A term used typically in multi-row bolted joint analysis to describe the amount of load taken by a fastener and how much of the total load bypasses that fastener row and is distributed to the next row of fasteners. The bearing load is reactive at a particular bold under consideration, while the bypass load, interrupted by the bolt hole, passes by and is reactive elsewhere. Click here for an image.
